Argentine Entrepreneurs to Rally at Congress

Buenos Aires, March 16 (NA) – A hundred business leaders and representatives from productive sector chambers will meet on Thursday at 11 a.m. in front of the National Congress to present lawmakers with a diagnosis of the state of the national industry and to highlight the sector's current situation.

The initiative arose from a virtual meeting of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs, which analyzed the decline in economic activity and the difficulties in maintaining production levels. During that meeting, participants discussed topics such as access to financing, production costs, and the impact of the economic situation on small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.

The crisis in metallurgy is deepening: it fell by 10.3% in February, and installed capacity fell below 41%.

According to information from the organizing entities, the meeting is attended by representatives from the Chamber of Footwear Industry (CIC), Argentine Industrial SMEs (IPA), Pro Tejer Foundation, the Argentine Leather Goods Industry Chamber (CIMA), the Argentine Toy Industry Chamber (CAIJ), the San Martín Industrial Union (UIGSM), the Assembly of Small and Medium-sized Businessmen (APYME), Entrepreneurs for the Argentine Development (ENAC), and the Argentine SME Confederation, among other organizations.

According to sources who spoke to the Argentine News Agency (NA), entrepreneurs are working on a document that synthesizes proposals to preserve the productive fabric and industrial employment.

In this regard, sector representatives stated: “Industrial SMEs need to be heard. We represent production, investment, and thousands of jobs across the country.”

The meeting aims to introduce lawmakers from different blocs to the impact of current economic conditions on production. It also seeks to open an institutional dialogue channel to analyze tools that can strengthen the national industry.
